if you have BEDANTE, 100% your item will never disappear. Just make sure that you place it in the right position. Item will remain at its upgrade if you failed.

if u need refining low level like +1 until +7  u can use aziz/ surapa but sometime can fail and back to +0. 
but if u need fastest refining and need 100% succes rate +1 till +7  so use purajati.  then +8 u can use purajati + kuntu**or purajati + item like triangle i forget the name     or use sambadu if you do not want any headaches 
**Note : if use kuntu / kund = becarefully because if fail, ur item down lvl -1
